NORTH BERGEN, NEW JERSEY (September 26, 2017) – A woman was killed on Tuesday morning after a car crashed into a bus stop on River Road, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 6:30 am on River Road, in front of Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center. A woman who was reportedly an employee of The Harborage, a skilled nursing facility next to the hospital, was waiting at a bus stop when an SUV crashed into the stop.

The woman was tragically killed in the accident. The driver of the vehicle fled immediately after the accident on foot, but was apprehended by local authorities a short time later. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability at this time.
