“Two Car Collision”
NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA (May 31, 2017) – A 65-year-old female motorist was involved in a vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15 just south of Field Road Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 12:51 p.m. when he driver of Lexus SUV, traveling southbound on Interstate 15, experienced tire failure, lost control of the vehicle, and overturned through the median and collided with a Nissan Armada driven by the female motorist, according to CHP Officer Adam Carmichall.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene to find the driver of the Armada dead at the scene. Rescue crews used extrication measures to free a passenger in the Armada. The passenger was transported to a trauma center for treatment of major injuries.
The occupants in the Lexus declined medical assistance. According to CHP, drug and/or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident.
