The accident happened on the Cross Bronx Expressway, near Webster Avenue. A semi-truck was stopped on the expressway due to traffic, when a second semi-truck barreled into a Ford pickup truck stopped behind the first semi, as well as hitting the first semi itself. A Toyota Corolla was also hit in the accident.

Three out of five people in the pickup truck were killed, with the other two passengers rushed to a hospital. One person from the Toyota Corolla, and two people from the second semi-truck were also injured and hospitalized.

The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability, and the driver of the second semi-truck has been identified as Ernesto Cabrera. Cabrera has stated that the roads were slick and he did not have enough time to stop.

“Our firms prayers are with all parties involved in this devastating collision,” said an attorney from Lexton Law Firm.
