“Two Vehicle Injury Collision”
NELSON CO., VIRGINIA (June 17, 2017) – Two people were involved in a collision with a tanker truck on Route 29 at the intersection of Route 617 Saturday, according to police officials. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. A 2017 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan traveling east on Route 617 stopped at a stop sign. The Pacifica minivan continued to cross Route 29 when the driver of a tanker truck, traveling northbound on Route 29, collided into the minivan. The tanker truck veered of the road and hit the embankment.
Emergency crews were called to the scene. Both the driver and passenger/wife o the minivan were transported to UVA Hospital for treatment. the driver sustained serious injuries while his passenger/wife sustained life threatening injuries.
The driver of the tanker truck was transported to UVA Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police officials determind that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. An investigation is ongoing.
