Around 8:22 pm, officers received reports of a white Dodge Ram driving recklessly in the vicinity of Highway 101 and Highway 46. When they attempted to stop the driver, he fled from police down State Route 41 , striking a 2004 Lincoln and continuing on. The pickup truck ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 41 and Interstate 5, and struck a 2003 Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Camry, 81 year old Natividad Salinas, was tragically killed in the accident. The driver of the Dodge, identified as Danny Garcia, fled the scene on foot but was located, arrested, and booked for felony DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter, and hit and run causing injury. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
