NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA (January 10, 2017) – A tractor trailer struck a mattress and caught on fire on Tuesday on the 805 Freeway, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident happened around 2:00 pm on the southbound side of the 805 Freeway near Plaza Boulevard. A semi-truck struck a mattress and caught on fire immediately.
The driver of the semi-truck was able to escape the flames, but it is not known if he was injured or not. The accident remains under investigation as authorities attempt to determine where the mattress came from and who is liable for the accident.
