At 2:20 a.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle collision on the northbound lanes of Jamboree Road between Main Street and Kelvin Avenue, according to Irvine police spokeswoman Kim Mohr.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene to find a Chevrolet Corvette adn a fire hydrant that was cut clipped out of the ground. Ortiz and another occupant, later identified as 26-year-old Jamie R. Lopez, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant,a male whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
