GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE (August 4, 2017) – A motorcyclist was left with severe injuries after being struck by a DART bus on Friday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 7:30 pm on Bedford Street near DuPont Boulevard. A 68 year old man on a 2000 BMW motorcycle was heading northbound on South Beford Street, when a DART bus operated by a 51 year old woman turned in front of him, causing a collision.
The motorcyclist struck the windshield of the bus as he was ejected, and sustained serious injuries. He was airlifted to Christiana Hospital immediately. The bus driver, identified as 51 year old Selena Cannon, was not injured, and was cited by troopers with failure to yield the right of way. The investigation is ongoing.
