The CHP reported that a 2012 Volkswagen Golf, driven by 51-year-old Scott Lane, was traveling southbound on Hale at a high rate of speed around 3:00 p.m. when he crossed over a solid double-yellow line and crashed into a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 29-year-old Malissa Moon.
The CHP states that witnesses saw Lane driving in a reckless manner and passing vehicles on the west shoulder. The impact of the accident caused fatal injuries. Both victims were trapped inside their vehicles when the CHP arrived at the scene of the accident.
