The accident happened around 11:00 am on Saturday on Highway 1 near Mile Marker 5000. A small black sedan reportedly crashed into a tree for unknown reasons, trapping one person inside.

The trapped party was extricated by responding emergency medical professionals, but tragically they were pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
