The accident happened around 1:47 am on Highway 99 near Kansas Avenue. A 1995 Honda driven by 31 year old Abel Ramirez was heading northbound on Highway 99 when he lost control and crashed into a tree, overturning and ejecting the passenger, 33 year old Juana Jimenez who landed on the highway. Abel Ramirez rushed to pull Juana Jimenez out of the road, and both were struck by a 2006 Chevrolet driven by 38 year old Berton Ferreira.
Juana Jiminez sustained major injuries and was rushed to Doctors Medical Center. Abel Ramirez sustained moderate injuries and was rushed to Memorial Medical Center, where he was later arrested for driving under the influence. Breton Ferreira was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“It’s unfortunate that motorists under the influence disregard the negative effects that may ensue from driving under the influence. Drunk drivers continue to endanger the safety of all other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California car accident and personal injury attorney.
