“Investigation Ongoing”

MODESTO, CALIFORNIA (January 27, 2017) – Monica Fuentes has been identified as the woman injured in a hit and run accident on Friday evening on Highway 132, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 7:00 pm on Friday near Riverside Road. A vehicle driven by Monica Fuentes, was stopped at a red light when it was rear ended by a white Chevrolet van. Monica Fuentes noticed the other driver was under the influence, and he immediately fled the scene. Authorities were able to track the van to the house it was parked at by following the scrape marks made by the van driving on its rims.

The drunk driving suspect was identified as 48 year old Gary Burnett. Burnett was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The condition of Monica Fuentes is unknown, and authorities continue to investigate the accident.

“It’s unfortunate that motorists under the influence disregard the negative effects that may ensue from driving under the influence. Drunk drivers continue to endanger the safety of all other drivers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California car accident and personal injury attorney.
