
“Fatal victim identified”
MODESTO, CALIFORNIA (January 21, 2017) – According to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office, the woman killed in a hit-and-run collision on Highway 99 north of Ninth Street was identified as 83-year-old Hubertina Koch. (map)
CHP Sergeant Nelda Banuelos reported that a Honda, driven by the hit-run-run motorist, was traveling northbound on Ninth Street around 4:20 a.m. when he broadsided a motorhome that was traveling in the slow lane. Both vehicles went off the roadway. The motorhome landed on its left side. The driver of the Honda fled the scene of the accident before authorities arrived.
Sergeant Banuelos states that Koch was in the back of the motorhome and was she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the motorhome and his front seat passenger were transported to a hospital with major injuries.
