FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (March 5, 2017) – A 40 year old man was killed in a head on collision with a semi-truck on Sunday morning on Highway 59, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 11:35 am on Highway 59, between Washington Avenue and Grant Avenue. A Nissan Armada carrying five people was traveling south on Highway 59, while a semi-truck was traveling northbound carrying 17,000 lbs of paper goods. One of the vehicles crossed into opposing lanes, causing the semi-truck to strike the front drivers side of the Armada.
The driver of the Nissan Armada, identified as a 40 year old man, was rushed to a hospital where he was tragically pronounced dead. Also in the Armada was a 38 year old woman, a 12 year old boy, a 5 year old girl and a 6 year old girl. All four were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, but are expected to survive. The driver of the semi truck was uninjured in the accident. Initial reports indicate hail and inclement weather may have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
