SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA (October 31, 2017) – 18 year old Matthew Edward Eric Cruz was identified as one of the three teenagers killed in a car accident on Highway 35 on Halloween, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened on Tuesday evening on Skyline Boulevard, also known as Highway 35. A 2010 Hyundai was traveling south on Highway 35 near Bear Gulch Road when it veered off the roadway for an unknown reason, colliding with a tree and rolling down an embankment almost 50 feet.
The vehicle was discovered the next morning. All three occupants were pronounced dead as a result of the accident. 18 year old Matthew Edward Eric Cruz was identified as one of the three killed. Cruz was a passenger in the vehicle, and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
There was an outpouring of support from the community on Facebook and other social media platforms after the accident. Many commenters mentioned that the area in which the boys had their fatal accident is a dangerous one, known to locals for accidents.
