Matt Hodges Killed in Accident on Highway 177

“Investigation Ongoing”

DESERT CENTER, CALIFORNIA (May 31, 2017) – 30 year old Matt Hodges has been identified as one of the four victims killed in a tragic car accident on Monday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened on Monday afternoon on Highway 177 near Desert Center. Matt Hughes, the head coach of the varsity girls soccer team at Ayala High School, was heading back from a Memorial Day trip to Arizona with three passengers in his car. Matt’s 2012 Toyota Corolla abruptly veered into the opposing lane and crashed head on into a 1999 Freightliner semi-truck for an unknown reason.

Matt Hughes was rushed to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and died. Also killed in the collision was Gabby Constante, the assistant coach for the team, who was also Matt Hughes girlfriend. Two other women inside the car were also killed in the collision. The accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Matt Hughes as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
