MARTINSVILLE, ILLINOIS (February 25, 2017) – Two people were killed in a semi-truck accident on Interstate 70 near Cleone Road on Saturday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 3:55 p.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 70, near exit 136 for Cleone Road. 51-year-old Khcicha Gogoladze and 60-year-old Ivan Koudla were traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 in a semi-truck when they crashed into the back of a second semi-truck driven by 49-year-old James Weaver. James Weaver had slowed to almost a dead stop due to traffic caused by a previous accident. The impact from the accident caused Gogoladze’s semi truck to catch on fire.
Khcicha Gogoladze, who was driving the semi-truck, and passenger Ivan Koudla were both tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel. James Weaver did not report sustaining any injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Khcicha Gogoladze and Ivan Koudla affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
