Single Vehicle Freeway Crash Claims Two Lives, Paula Erben, 74, and Jerry Erben, 79
MARTINEZ, California – A single vehicle crash on Highway 4 and Interstate-680 has claimed the lives of elderly married couple Paula Erben, 74, ad Jerry Erben, 79.
Their Chrysler sedan was headed south on Highway 4 and I-680 when the driver failed to negotiate the southbound ramp, leaving the highway, and careening down a dirt embankment. The Chrysler struck a concrete divider. The Erbens were rushed to the hospital where they later died from fatal injuries.
Investigators are still examining possible causes of the accident, but said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved. Those with information about the accident may call California Highway Patrol, 925-646-4980.
