SANTA FE SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA (February 19, 2017) – 61-year-old Marlene Levya was tragically killed in an accident on Sunday night on 5 Freeway near Shoemaker Avenue, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. on the southbound side of the 5 Freeway near Shoemaker Avenue. Levya was driving a 2004 Buick southbound, when she veered to the right, striking the shoulder wall and then traveled back across lanes. She was then struck by a 2014 Toyota, driven by 35-year-old man. Marlene Levya was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
The driver of the Toyota, Teodoro Martinez Avila, was not injured in the accident. The incident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
