COACHELLA, CALIFORNIA (March 6, 2017) – Maria Alvarado has been identified as the woman killed in an accident on Interstate 10 on Monday morning, according to a local news source. (map)

Around 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the 10 Freeway near Dillon Road, a black Chrysler 200 reported striking something in the roadway, possibly an animal. Responding authorities found a woman lying in the roadway in the eastbound lanes, and identified her as Maria Alvarado.

39 year old Maria Alvarado was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if she was killed when she was struck by the Chrysler, or if she had already been hit by another vehicle. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
