MANTECA, CALIFORNIA (October 12, 2017) – A sedan was rear ended by a big rig on Highway 99 on Thursday, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident happened around 2:25 pm on the southbound side of Highway 99 near Austin Road. A red Cadillac was rear ended by a se mi truck, and the impact forced the Cadillac into the center divider. The impact was also enough to cause an axle to detach from one of the vehicles and land in one of the lanes. A third vehicle may also have been involved, but the exact details are unknown at this time.
The occupant of the Cadillac, identified only as a male, sustained injuries in the accident. Their current condition is unknown at this time. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability.
