HATCH, NEW MEXICO (November 5, 2017) – Malcolm Watkins was sadly killed in a small plane crash along with three others on Saturday near Hatch, New Mexico, according to a local news source. (map)
The plane crashed on Saturday sometime between 5:30-6:30. It took off from El Paso and was carrying four people on a planned round trip to Hatch, NM and back to El Paso the same day. When the plane vanished from radar on Saturday, a search began. The crash site was located by authorities late Sunday afternoon about 300 meters northwest of the Hatch Airport.
All four occupants of the plane were sadly confirmed to have been killed in the accident. 25 year old Malcolm Watkins was sadly one of those on board, along with his 41 year old cousin Kanequa Chancellor, 57 year old Anthony Deramus, and 41 year old Christopher Howell. All those on board were members of the Destiny Family Christian Center.
The plane crash remains under investigation by the FAA at this time. Initial reports indicate the plane sustained heavy damage in the crash. Friends of the four have expressed concern over how long it took authorities to find the wreckage. The lack of a control tower at the Hatch Airport may have contributed to the length of time it took to find the crash site.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Malcolm Watkins as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
