SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA (February 15, 2017) – Luke Stein has been identified as the man killed in a deadly collision on Wednesday night on East Cabrillo Boulevard, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of East Cabrillo Boulevard. A Honda, driven by 29-year-old Coredareo Nelson, was parked on the south curb when he took off and entered the eastbound lanes. He crossed directly into the path of motorcycle, driven by 23-year-old Luke Stein. The impact of the crash ejected Stein from his motorcycle. Stein was rushed to Cottage Hospital with critical injuries and he tragically was pronounced dead a short time later.
Nelson sustained injuries and was hospitalized as well. Further investigation showed that Nelson was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and did not have a license. Nelson was then arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
