LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (March 3, 2017) – A tow truck was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Vernon Avenue near 9th Avenue, Thursday evening, according the Los Angeles Police Department. (map)
The collision occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m., when the driver of vehicle traveling westbound on Vernon Avenue struck a tow truck traveling towards 9th Avenue. The driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The passenger in the vehicle sustained major head trauma and was transported to the hospital, according to LAPD Officer Jenny Houser.
The driver was later found and arrested on hit-and-run charges. The driver of the tow truck sustained no injuries.
