LOS ANGELES: Four Killed in Wrong Way Collision on Interstate 210

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (December 17, 2017) – Four people were killed in a wrong way accident on the 210 Freeway on Sunday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 1:45 am on the eastbound side of Interstate 210. 30 year old Ruben Adrian Gonzalez entered the eastbound 210 freeway heading the wrong way, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. He continued on for a short time until he crashed head on into a 2015 Toyota Corolla occupied by three people.

The occupants of the Corolla were identified as 56 year old Ana Patricia Zuniga, 60 year old Patricia Guadalupe Araujo, and 62 year old Dinora Elizabeth Ortiz. The driver of the Impala, Ruben Adrian Gonzalez, was also killed in the accident. Out of the four killed, Gonzalez and two women from the Corolla died at the scene, and the Corolla’s driver was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital. The accident is under an ongoing investigation at this time, and authorities have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors.

The 210 freeway is no stranger to wrong way accidents. In August a woman was killed after a wrong way collision with a semi truck on the 210 freeway, and similar accidents have been reported over the last few years. Some have complained that there is not an adequate system in place to prevent wrong way drivers from entering the freeway.
