The accident happened around 2:00 am at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Emerald Street. Eugenia Pelagio was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Eugenia Pelagio was rushed to a nearby hospital by responding paramedics, and was tragically pronounced dead as a result of the accident. The vehicle that struck Eugenia Pelagio and fled is described as a gray SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer. The investigation is ongoing.
