LONGWOOD: Semi Truck Driver Killed in Train Accident

LONGWOOD, FLORIDA (November 30, 2017) – A semi truck driver was killed after a SunRail train crashed into his big rig on Ronald Reagan Boulevard on Thursday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around noon off Ronald Reagan Boulevard, near Plumosa Avenue. A semi truck driven by a 40 year old man from Georgia was attempting to back into a business’s loading dock with the gate arms came down around, or on top of his truck. As he attempted to get the truck into gear, the train slammed into his truck.

The truck’s driver was tragically pronounced dead as a result of the accident. He has been identified as Stephen Chambers. The train was carrying 38 passengers, but none reported injuries after the accident. The collision remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability, and Lexton is still receiving updates at this time.
