LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (March 4, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on 7th Street and Olive Avenue on Saturday afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 5:50 pm at the intersection of Olive Avenue and 7th Street. An elderly man was walking across the street from the southwest corner of 7th Street, when he was struck by an eastbound Nissan Altima.

The pedestrian was rushed to Long Beach Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and died. The driver of the Altima remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
