Enrico Rojo Hit by Car While Trying to Help DUI Driver Involved in Crash
LOMA LINDA, CALIFORNIA (December 19, 2016) – A 29-year-old Marine is dead after he was hit by a car while trying to offer assistance at the scene of a crash on Interstate 10 near Mountain View Avenue early Monday morning, reported KTLA news. (map)
At about 1:30 a.m., Crystal Adrianna Martinez, 22, of Loma Linda, was heading westbound on the 10 freeway just east of Mountain View Avenue when she made a lane change and ran into a semi-truck. Her black Toyota Matrix overturned and came to rest on the freeway. Crystal Martinez was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Enrico Antonio Rojo, a 29-year-old Marine who lived in Ontario, saw the vehicle overturned and stopped to help.
Alexander Petricevic was also driving westbound on the freeway when he saw the crash and changed lanes to go around the overturned Toyota. Tragically, Alexander Petricevic did not see Enrico Rojo and crashed into him.
Petricevic immediately stopped and called emergency personnel, who arrived shortly after and pronounced Enrico Rojo dead at the scene.
This collision remains under investigation. This is a tragedy and an important time for sensitivity and respect.
