The accident happened around 1:00 pm near Shelly Lane. A northbound CSX train struck 17 year old Jacob Ohl for an unknown reason. Initial investigation show Jacob may have tried to jump out of the way of the train, when it struck his feet on the tracks.

Jacob Ohl sustained major injuries and had to have both feet amputated. He is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit at Gwinnet Medical Center, and he is in stable condition. The accident remains under investigation.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
