LEBEC, CALIFORNIA (December 31, 2016) – Two people were killed after a multi car accident on the 5 Freeway near Highway 99, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 8:45 am on Saturday, on the southbound side of the 5 Freeway, near Highway 99. Two cars were involved in a collision, and were then struck by a semi-truck, which triggered a chain reaction collision involving almost 20 vehicles.

A 35 year old woman and a 50 year old man were pronounced dead as a result of the accident, and several others were injured. The massive collision remains under investigation, as authorities determine cause and liability in the deadly crash.
