LAWRENCE COUNTY, KENTUCKY (February 26, 2017) – One person was killed and one other was airlifted to a hospital after a semi truck accident at the intersection of US 23 and Highway 3, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of US 23 and Highway 3. A semi truck heading northbound on US 23, collided with the passenger side of a 2000 Buick LeSabre that was heading north on Highway 3. The impact sent the sedan careening off the road and into a pole.
The two people inside the Buick were badly injured. Cora Howell, the passenger in the vehicle, was rushed to Three Rivers Medical Center where she was tragically pronounced dead. Lenwood Howell was rushed to Saint Mary’s Hospital for a head injury, and his current condition is unknown. The accident remains under open investigation at this time.
