Police officials and Rescue crews were called to the scene at approximately 9:00 a.m. The 89-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while in the crosswalk. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.

No other details of the collision were immediately available.

This marks the 45th pedestrian vs vehicle death on Boulder Highway since 2006, which amounts to nearly 10 percent of auto-pedestrian deaths in Nevada. According to Metro’s traffic bureau, 90 percent of the traffic fatalities investigated were due to ‘human error” such as speeding, DUI, no seat belt etc.
