“Cyclist vs. Vehicle Fatality”
LAS VEGAS, CALIFORNIA (May 1, 2017) – A bicyclist was involved in a fatal vehicle accident Monday evening on Decatur Boulevard south of Vegas Drive, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.(map)
The accident occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. The 35-year-old male cyclist was traveling southeast on Decatur Boulevard near Westmoreland Drive at a staggering crosswalk, when the driver of and SUV, traveling northbound on Decatur Boulevard, collided with the cyclist, according to Sgt. Paul McCullough.
Emergency crews were called to the scene. The 35-year-old cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The 77-year-old driver did not remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Decatur Boulevard was closed between Vegas Drive and Washington Avenue as there was a further investigation to ascertain the cause of the collision.
