LAKEHEAD, CALIFORNIA (April 11, 2017) – A semi truck went off the road on Interstate 5 on Tuesday afternoon, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)
The accident happened around 3:57 pm on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near the off-ramp for Slate Creek Road. A semi-truck with a full load went off the road for an unknown reason, crashing through the guardrail and into a stand of trees below. The driver managed to escape the vehicle after the accident, and the big rig ended up 200 feet off the roadway.
Paramedics and an ambulance responded to the scene after the accident, but the condition of the driver is unknown at this time. The recovery operation for the semi-truck is still ongoing as of Wednesday morning, and may affect Amtrak operations in the area as the accident occurred near a train track. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
“Police will gather evidence and conduct interviews with the drivers and witnesses to determine liability” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver who caused the accident.”
