LAKE HUGHES, CALIFORNIA (January 18, 2017) – A pilot and his plane were discovered Wednesday near Pine Canyon Road after he disappeared on January 12th, according to local news sources. (map)
On January 12th, a small plane described as a Mooney M20J, was flying from Tehachapi to Torrance when it disappeared. Authorities conducted a search on Tuesday and Wednesday, and found the plane on Wednesday around 7:45 am. The plane had crashed in the snow near Pine Canyon Road and Forest Route 7N23.
The pilot was tragically killed in the crash. Authorities including the FAA and the NTSB are conducting an investigation into the accident to determine cause and liability.
