The boat, a 21 ft Ski Natique motorboat, was being operated by 20 year old Dominique Effinger who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol. On Saturday around 7:15 pm the boat attempted a sharp turn and all 10 people including the driver were flung off the boat. Several sustained serious injuries, including a partially severed arm and a skull fracture.

All 10 were rescued, and two were flown to a local hospital. The others were transported via ambulance to Cameron Memorial Hospital. The boat continued on unmanned in circles around the lake until officers were able to stop it. The boat caused serious property damage as well, and the operator, Dominique Effinger, was arrested for Boating while Intoxicated and being a minor in possession of alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
