LAKE FOREST: Jeff Werkmeister and Jacob Werkmeister Injured after Being Struck by Out of Control Pickup Truck on Town Centre Drive

LAKE FOREST, CALIFORNIA (December 18, 2016) – A Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Commissioner and his son were both injured after they were struck by an out of control pickup truck on Towne Centre Drive on Sunday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:00 pm behind the Regal Cinemas on Towne Centre Drive. Jeff Werkmeister, a Commissioner for Lake Forest Parks and Rec, and his 14 year old son Jacob Werkmeister, were walking behind the Regal Cinemas when a pickup truck driven by a 28 year old man burst through the chain link fence, striking both of the Werkmeisters.

The driver of the pickup truck, John Weathers, was pronounced dead at the scene. Jeff and Jacob Werkmeister were both badly injured and were rushed to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. The investigation is ongoing into the details of this tragic accident.
