LAKE ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA (July 6, 2017) – A man was killed and three more were injured after a three car accident on Ortega Highway on Thursday morning, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 6:50 am on State Route 71 near Decker Canyon Road. A 2002 Jeep Cherokee was heading eastbound at a high rate of speed, and a 2014 F-150 pickup truck was heading westbound, followed by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Jeep attempted to negotiate a curve in the road and was unable to, due to his rate of speed. He veered into opposing lanes and struck the Ford head on, causing the Ford to veer into the Chevrolet pickup truck.
The driver of the Jeep was airlifted from the scene, but he sustained major injuries and was tragically pronounced dead a short time later. A passenger in the Jeep, identified as a woman from Huntington Beach, sustained moderate injuries, and the drivers of the Ford and the Chevrolet sustained minor to moderate injuries. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of the victim as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened. We wish a swift recovery to the three people injured in this horrible accident.”
