The accident occurred just before 12:00 a.m. Witnesses attempted to get Stuart out of the roadway. Stuart continued to walk along the roadway and was struck moments later by a female motorist, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Nathan Kaas.

The driver of the motor vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Further reports suggested that the driver of the motor vehicle showed no signs of being under the influence. An investigation is ongoing to determine if alcohol was a factor in the fatal collision.
