LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA (January 21, 2017) – A passenger riding in a golf cart with a drunk driver was injured on Sunday near Oak Tree, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 2:38 pm near Oak Tree and Pete Dye. Stephen Southam, a 41 year old man from San Clemente, was operating a golf course under the influence of alcohol, and made an unsafe turn that caused his 59 year old passenger to fall out of the golf cart.
The passenger was rushed to JFK Memorial Hospital by responding paramedics, with unspecified injuries. Stephen Southam was arrested for DUI and was booked into the Riverside County Jail. The accident remains under open investigation at this time.
