Corvette Crashed, Went Over SR-94 onto Spring Street
LA MESA, CALIFORNIA (December 11, 2016) – A 24-year-old Oregon man died in an accident that sent a sports car off the side of Highway 94 and fall 70 feet below onto Spring Street, reported the Patch. (map)
At about 8:10 p.m., Sunday evening, the victim’s 1998 Chevrolet Corvette crashed into the side of a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes of SR-94 approaching Bancroft Drive.
The driver of the Corvette lost control of the sports car, struck the concrete barrier on the north side of the freeway, then went over the side. The Corvette fell about 70 feet onto Spring Street.
Sadly, the Corvette’s driver died at the scene of the accident. The 50-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile, a Spring Valley resident, was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
