DESERT CENTER, CALIFORNIA (March 13, 2017) – A Monday afternoon car wreck claimed two lives on Interstate 10, according to a local news source. (map)
A 2005 Ford Explorer was heading westbound on Interstate 10 near Cottonwood Springs Road on Monday when the left rear tire blew, sending the Ford off the road where it rolled multiple times. Two people were ejected from the car during the accident.
Kristen Duran Deleon and her nine year old son Anthony were tragically identified as those ejected in the accident, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 39 year old Kris Deleon, sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. Also in the vehicle was five month old Emma, who sustained minor injuries. Both were airlifted after the accident. The collision remains under investigation at this time. The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs.
