IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (July 1, 2017) – Two people were killed and three more were critically injured in a two car accident on Saturday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 3:00 am at the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Michelson Drive. A 2015 Infiniti Q50 and a 2014 Hyundai Elantra were involved in a collision for an unknown reason. The Infiniti immediately caught on fire as a result of the accident.
The driver of the Hyundai, 23 year old Kesean Herrera, was tragically killed in the accident. Also in the vehicle was passenger 24 year old Jeremy Shankling, who was also pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti and two female passengers from the Hyundai were transported to local hospitals in critical condition after the accident.
Initial reports indicate the intersection is known for speeding, but the exact cause of Saturday’s accident is unknown. The collision remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
