The accident happened around 5:00 pm at the intersection of Ashlan Avenue and Trinity Avenue. 25 year old Griselda Lopez was driving a 2009 Kia minivan east on Ashlan Avenue when she rolled through a stop sign on Trinity Avenue. Lopez was then struck by a Toyota pickup truck heading south on Trinity. The impact caused the van to rollover onto its roof.
A 6 year old girl was seriously injured in the collision, and was airlifted to the hospital. A 4 year old, 25 year old Griselda Lopez and 45 year old Eva Ramirez, all parties from the Kia, were all hospitalized as well. The driver of the Toyota pickup truck, 71 year old Alex Kobets, was taken to Community Regional hospital. At the hospital it was determined that Alex was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, and has been arrested for DUI. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
“Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent driver who caused the accident,” said a California car accident and personal injury lawyer.
