“Investigation Ongoing”

TEMPLE, TEXAS (June 24, 2017) – Kaitlyn Oliver was tragically killed in an accident on Belton Lake on Saturday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened on Saturday, at Temple Lake Park in Temple. 4 year old Kaitlyn Oliver was swimming with her father, Patrick Oliver, when a houseboat driven by 47 year old Jason Bernal backed over the four year old. Patrick Oliver tried to save his daughter, and was caught in the boat’s propellers as well as a result.

Kaitlyn Oliver was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries and died a short time later. Patrick Oliver had both legs amputated, and is in critical condition. Initial reports indicate witnesses at the scene screamed at Jason Bernal that there were children in the water and to stop reversing, but he did not heed their warnings prior to the accident. Jason Bernal has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at our firm are with the family and friends of Kaitlyn Oliver after this horrible accident. Words cannot express our condolences to those affected, and we wish a swift and steady recovery for Patrick Oliver .”
