CYPRESS, TEXAS (December 12, 2017) – Joshua Luke Cummings was tragically confirmed as the man killed in a freak accident at a gun range in Texas on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened on Tuesday morning, at the Hot Wells Gun Range. An employee of the gun range was inside cleaning a hunting rifle when the rifle accidentally discharged with a live round. The bullet went through the wall and out into the parking lot, where 36 year old Joshua Luke Cummings had just exited his vehicle. The bullet struck Joshua Cummings in the head, and although he was flown to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, he tragically died.
Joshua Cummings is survived by his wife Kathleen, and three preschool aged triplets. The Harris County Sheriff’s office is handling the investigation, and is looking into whether the accident was due to human error, or a gun malfunction. The Hot Wells Shooting Range released a short statement indicating their sorrow regarding the tragedy, and mentioning that they have been accident free for 44 years. The Hot Wells Gun Range is owned and operated by the Lamar family .
