JOHNS ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA (February 28, 2017) – A bicyclist was struck by a semi truck on Tuesday on Highway 17 near Old Charleston Highway, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened on Monday afternoon or early evening, on Highway 17 near Old Charleston Highway. A bicyclist was struck by a semi truck for an unknown reason. Initial reports indicate the driver of the semi truck may not have stopped.

The bicyclist was rushed to Medical University of South Carolina for treatment of their injuries and their current condition is unknown. The accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability.
