“Cyclist vs. Vehicle Fatality”
SANGER, CALIFORNIA (April 12, 2017) – The man killed in a tragic bicycle versus auto collision has been identified as 27-year-old Jesse Leon. The accident occurred on Wednesday evening on Academy Avenue near Belmont, according California Highway Patrol. (map)
The collision occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. Leon and another cyclist were traveling southbound on Academy Avenue when a vehicle traveling in the same direction collided with one of the cyclists.
Rescue crews were called to the scene. Leon succumbed to his injuries despite efforts from emergency crews including a nursing student who was first on the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to cooperate with police officials. The initial investigation indicated that drugs and or alcohol do not appear to factors in the deadly crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
