IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (June 30, 2017) – Francis Pisano and Jana Pisano have been identified as the two people injured on Friday morning when a plane crashed onto the 405 Freeway, according to a local news source. (map)
The plane took off from the John Wayne Airport just after 9 am. Shortly after takeoff, the plane began experiencing troubles, and pilot Francis Pisano attempted to return to the airport. He radioed a mayday to the air traffic control tower and told them his right engine had gone out, just before crashing onto the 405 Freeway on the southbound side, just shy of the airport runway.
55 year old Jana Pisano was able to climb out of the crashed plane on her own, but 62 year old Francis Pisano was extricated from the wreckage by an off duty firefighter at the scene. The two were rushed to a local hospital, and sustained injuries such as vertebrae fractures and cuts and bruises.
Some sources have indicated that the plane was newly registered to Twin Props Inc, a company sharing an address with Francis Pisano’s CPA firm in Santa Ana. Francis Pisano had been a pilot since 2007 according to FAA records. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with the FAA and the NTSB taking lead, and being assisted by the CHP.
“We wish a swift and steady recovery for Jana and Francis Pisano after this horrible crash. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at our firm is with those injured and their families during this difficult time,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
